Zune 30GB Clock Driver Bug

by Benjamin Anderson 31. December 2008 12:31

Today many Zune 30GB users ran into issues where their Zune would lock up and fail to load.  The issue is related to leap year time management within the clock driver for the 30GB Zune.  My Zune and both of my father’s were affected by the issue.  It meant a day without music and audio books, at least from our Zunes, but the issue will be resolved tomorrow and a fix for the bug in the next firmware.

Here was the problem: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zune-news/38143-cause-zune-30-leapyear-problem-isolated.html

It was all thanks to Freescale's clock driver...  It's a silly and simple programming error, which should have been caught in a review and during testing...  Geez...
